Dr. Sibthorpe featured in Sheerluxe “Is Profhilo The New Botox?”

Botox will freeze your lines while fillers will smooth them. But what about the injectable Profhilo (a gel, not a filler) that could restore and rejuvenate our skin to its natural and younger looking form like never before? SL sat down with anti-aging expert, Dr Richard Sibthorpe, to get the lowdown on the latest injectable making waves…

What is Profhilo?

Profhilo is an injectable that combines two types of hyaluronic acid to rejuvenate your skin. It’s both preventative and corrective in combating the signs of ageing. This super skin booster not only hydrates the skin from the inside out, getting rid of any crepiness, but it also increases collagen and elastin production and actually remodels the skin to make it firmer. It’s really quite impressive.

Who should have Profhilo?

Anyone beginning to get loose, saggy, wrinkly skin or those in need of a good dose of hydration.

How is it different from dermal fillers?

It’s very different from fillers. Dermal fillers are used to create volume and to change the structure of your face while Profhilo integrates with your skin to harness its own ability to stimulate collagen and elastin production. It doesn’t plump or add any volume to the areas treated. It works brilliantly if you’ve had fillers but you still want a better texture and glow. And no one would ever know you’d had it.

Can you have a Profhilo treatment at the same time as Botox & fillers?

You can have a Botox treatment at the same time, but it’s not advised to have the treatment with other fillers in the same area of injections.

How quickly do you see results?

Within around 24 hours.

How many treatments do you need?

You could have one, but two treatment sessions with a one-month interval in between will provide the best results. To maintain the results, you’ll need top-up maintenance treatments at six-month intervals.

How long does the treatment take?

It’s five tiny injections on each side of the face so it’s remarkably quick and there isn’t any bruising or downtime.

Can Profhilo be used on other parts of the body?

Yes – on the neck, décolletage and hands to restore the skin’s elasticity and increase its firmness.

And it’s safe?

Yes. Profhilo is 100% hyaluronic acid, so contains no added chemicals making it highly biocompatible (i.e. it can coexist with living tissue without causing any harm).

How much does it cost?

Around £400 per treatment.
